STRING INSTRUMENT SPECIALISTS was founded in 1977 to provide specialized repair services for school string instrument programs. Since then, we have grown into a full-service repair and bowmaking workshop. We carry accessories, cases and supplies, and sell individually-selected instruments on a limited scale.

We are in a unique position to serve music educators and student string players since string education is our primary interest. We offer consulting services and mentoring assistance to teachers and schools, and present clinics and inservice sessions on a wide variety of subjects of interest to string teachers. We assist school districts in optimizing their music programs. We also are available for festival adjudication or guest-conducting appearances.

Our unique catalog of music for strings has developed from many years of personalized work with school programs. Each of the selections addresses specific teaching points and fills a niche in program requirements. Each selection shows awareness to the needs of school musicians and is carefully edited for student understanding.

We also offer live performance services by The Olympic String Quartet and by cellist Ian Edlund. Made up of the foremost string professionals in the South Sound area, The Olympic String Quartet performs regularly to wide acclaim in concerts and for social occasions.
